Working with relationships is sometimes about how to change the relationship, sometimes on how to end the relationship and sometimes how we need to change in order for the relationship to survive. When it comes to working with relationship issues, my view is that ultimately, at the core, it all comes down to our attachment patterns. By that I mean the way we have been used in our lives to attach to significants other, be it our parents, caregivers, family members or partners. Some of it comes from our early childhood and some of it is formed throughout our lives. It can be surprisingly easy to see things in a clear way, once we understand how our own attachment functions. Another concept that I use in working with relationship issues are games we play in couples. My psychotherapy in Prestwich provides a safe place for exploring these topics and the consultations are strictly confidential. I do not work with couples at this point, it is one to one psychotherapy work.
